The Mississippi Renaissance Foundation (MRG) wishes to recognize local small businesses and corporations along the Mississippi Gulf Coast that exemplify Civic Pride.

Our "Bringing Back the Beauty" award is presented to small businesses and locally-owned company sites around the Gulf Coast that have exhibited an ongoing effort to maintain a clean and attractive appearance, thus setting an example of standards that we are hoping to foster throughout the coastal region to bring back the beauty that we once knew before Hurricane Katrina.

The selected sites have shown that they are making extraordinary efforts to have nice landscaping, well maintained buildings, pretty trees, shrubbery and flowers, landscaping amenities, and, equally as important as a beautiful appearance, and a clean environment.

Our initial site selections will be announced at an awards ceremony at the IP Hotel Casino Spa on June 5, 2007. Ten locations have been selected that meet our stringent requirements for the award that bestows upon them our
"Bringing Back the Beauty" award certificate.

After the initial kickoff ceremony recognizing the first ten locations, it is the goal of the MRG to select one to two locations per month to recognize as additional examples of civic pride. It is hoped that other businesses and nonresidential places will strive to achieve excellence in appearance to the extent that more and more places that were damaged and destroyed by Hurricane Katrina will be restored to a better than ever appearance, and that our Coast will once again become a place in which all citizens will be proud.

The people of the Coast have spoken loud and clear. They want our Coastal landscape cleaned up and beautified. They want our pride restored. They want our communities to be examples of our inner souls, letting our beauty shine through so that local citizens and visitors alike will enjoy driving around and soaking in the beauty that will heal our wounds.
